Safety Hazard - Defective Design

Subject: Safety Hazard - Defective Design The placement of the burners in relation to the igniters is poorly designed. One of the igniters actually melted, and when I tried to turn it off, I severely burned my fingers. While I generally trust this brand, I cannot recommend this specific model at all. It is a safety risk.

Poor judgment by customer service

Like the cooktop. However, customer service sold me spare parts. That was not necessary. After multiple contact with customer service on the telephone I basically been ghosted. I™€™m told I will receive a return call but never do. GE should take the parts back because the customer service rep knew they were already in the box, but sold them to me anyway as accessory. Very poor decision-making.

The cooktop works great. The one replaced had a glass finish which was prettier and I liked it much better. But GE doesn™€™t make the glass ones any more. This one seems to ignite the burners faster.

Grates are heavy, but they cover the whole area and makes it easy to slide heavy or full pots to different burners. It's also nice to have the different size burners for cooking different foods. Overall is nice looking, although the grates give it a BBQ grill look. So far everything working well.

This a beautiful upgrade. I bought the five-burner stove, and although I liked my old top with the knobs on the side, these knobs have not been in the way or are hard to clean as I thought they would be. The grates are made for serious cooking. Very sturdy! The burners are unmatchable. The flames are perfect, and I have no complaints about this unit.

My original GE Profile cooktop stopped working (it was 19 years old) one week before Christmas so I was in a pinch to find a something quickly and that limited my choices. I purchased this in the black finish. This is a nice looking cooktop that works well, however, I deducted one star because I find it that it smears when you try to clean it. My old cooktop was sealed gas with a flat glass surface and it was much easier to clean.

I have been wanting to replace my 20 year old Thermador 36" gas cooktop for years with the GE JGP5036DL2BB. With the Thermador, we never used the electric griddle in the middle and I considered it wasted space on that old cooktop. I finally decided to purchase the GE unit direct from GE/Bodwell when I needed to replace my old cabinet microwave the a new GE microwave. Original delivery date for the cooktop was about 30 days out and was then pushed back another 10 days. Unit arrived as scheduled on the later date. Installer needed to widen the insert on my granite counter by 1/2" ($175.00). I replaced the old flex gas line of 20 years with a new 4' flex gas line. Rest of the installation went without any issues. Initally the cooktop looks large because grates are 2" above the granite counter while my old Thermaor burner grates were separate units and not as high. My wife and I like the new look and she loves how it cooks. I am only sorry I waited so long to replace my old Thermador. Keep in mind it takes awhile once you order the unit and there is a possibility your original cutout might need to be widened. I had anticipated both. We are happy with GE kitchen appliances especially now with this new 36" gas cooktop.

Packaging Tape on cooktop pulls paint off surface

Great product so far! The only issue I have is the tape they used to package the knobs, etc onto the cooktop. The glue on the tape is so strong it partially removed the paint from the cooktop surface when removing it.
