Worthless space wise

It is so small that I have to rearrange my food every time I want to get something out or put in. . They say it is 21.9 cu ft but guess what. My previous fridge that fit in the same space was 2 times larger inside than this one. GE must be including all the space that supposedly makes it cheaper to operate. My nearest grocery store is 34 miles away and this fridge does not lend itself for shopping every 2 weeks. Plus after 2 years the inside freezer light burned out and I have to remove the ice maker to replace it. BEWARE. I would like to toss this one out the window. Worthless and it was expensive. It™€™s what GE does not tell you.

The appearance and function of the refrigerator and freezer are good. Water (through the door) appears to be working as is the ice maker. The lighting in both compartments is poor when loaded with food, Each compartment has one light in the ceiling to light the entire space. The lower racks / trays are almost dark. The control panel on the unit is NOT like the information sheet that explains how it operates. The downloadable manual is vague in places. Statements followed by 'your unit may not have this feature' are prevalent throughout the manual. The manual states there is lighting on the ceiling and the sides of each compartment. Ours does not have the side lighting.

This product has the right number of adjustable shelves that enable us to configure the appliance to fit our needs, with 2 shelves for tall items and enough space for the other two shelves for our average sized items. 2 crisper drawers are great for deli items and produce. The freezer is also configurable to for our needs. The appliance is so quiet you think it™€™s not running. The ices maker/dispenser and water dispenser are very quiet. People sitting in the adjacent family room are not distracted from the ball game when you go get ice and a drink.

The lighting on the refrigerator side isn™€™t very bright. If any objects are on the top shelf, they block the light below. The placement of the refrigerator in my kitchen exposes the bottom left side of the refrigerator. Spray foam insulation injected at the time of construction has pushed the bottom pan, exposing the insulation. Visibly white.

So far doing well. It could have better lighting on the refrigerator side. The only light is in the top and lower shelves are harder to see. Had a limited space to install refrigerator so the price was much higher than a larger refrigerator would have been due to lower production numbers of the smaller ones and also for the color black We would have liked to get a GE Profile but not available in that size. Our old Profile lasted 26 years.

I just received this refrigerator on 9/24 Unfortunately the lighting in the refrigerator is extremely poor. There is some light for the top shelf Cannot see beyond that point. Very dark on the other shelves and drawers There is no Deli drawer which definitely limits best use of space The freezer space is very limited. The GE quality is no longer what was offered in the past and the price is high given the quality. I realize that this is not the GE profile I have had for several years however I expected more from GE

Just purchased. The top wire shelf in the freezer is Mickey Mouse It would be better if it were a fixed shelf. There should be another fridge shelf or s mid drawer.. but the real reason for the complaint is the UNBELIEVABLY IRRITATING NOISE is puts out. The compressor emits an excruciating HIGH PITCHED RINGING that makes it impossible to enjoy a quiet relaxing dinner at the kitchen table. There were only 2 black side by side counter depth refrigerators on the market..and the other brand had a 3 month lead time™€¦ soooo I purchased the GE. It™€™s not so easy to JUST take it back. The problem isn™€™t that I don™€™t like it, the problem is the annoying high-pitched ringing it produces. Soooo I guess I™€™ll just be annoyed with it. My only hope is that it blows up within the next few years so I can justify buying a different one.

This GE refrigerator was just installed today so there has been no time for problems to arise. That being said, I™€™m thrilled! This is a replacement for a GE frig we have had for thirty years which needed a repair for the condenser about ten years ago but otherwise gave great service. It™€™s still working but beginning to run for long periods of time and has begun to make some noises. So, we shopped around to replace it before it finally stopped and we would have to scramble. The new one fits perfectly, has a black high gloss finish which looks beautiful and purrs like a kitten when starting up. It is a side by side and has essentially the same interior organization of drawers and shelves as the old one which we loved. We have essentially the same storage (about 22 cubic feet) as the old one and all this at competitive pricing. Oh, yeah, there is an improved water and ice dispenser as well as a built-in water filter which the older unit did not have. GE has done it again!

I've had my 21.9 Counter Depth for 2 years. I would not recommend this product to anyone. The light in my freezer went out and manual said to call GE. I called GE and was told a new LED would cost $80 and a tech should install it. A service call would cost $150. So $230 to replace a light in a freezer? Really? I'm old enough to remember when GE's Motto was "At GE Progress is our most important product". This is NOT progress. Based on this experience I cannot recommend buying this refrigerator.

A Keeper!!

We've had the refrigerator for only a few weeks, but so far we like it very much. Since we had our old fridge for over 40 years, this is much different & is taking a little getting used to, but well worth it. So refreshing to have our ice cream stay frozen. And good tasting filtered cold water & ice is a first for us too & well liked.

Great looks and silent operation. The refrigerator needs an additional light in the lower half and the deli draw needs to return. I bought and installed an LED motion sensor light strip and took the deli draw from the outgoing 14 yr old GE to resolve those issues but at $2600, customers should not be doing this. I like the freezer shelf and door shelf changes. Lets hope it will last 14 years like the out going GE side by side.
